OMAN AT A GLANCE:
The Sultanate of Oman is spread over an area of 212,500 sq km (82,046 sq miles) and shares its borders with Yemen, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and the Gulf of Oman. Oman’s capital city is Muscat and the currency is called Omani Rial. Arabic is the official language, although English and Persian are the other languages widely spoken and used. Oman’s population is approximately 2,800,000 and the predominant forms of religion are Ibadi Muslim (75%), Sunni Muslim, Shiite Muslim and Hindu.
